Playback Pins (the “Extension”) lets users save a selected YouTube video's playback position or a Shorts item and return to it later.
1. Information handled
When the user selects Save this spot, the Extension handles the video ID and type, title, channel name, current playback time for a standard video, save time, YouTube URL, and YouTube thumbnail URL. It does not request or store account credentials, passwords, email addresses, payment information, precise location, contacts, or personal communications.
2. Purpose
This information is used only to show the video positions the user explicitly saved and to reopen a selected item at the saved position in the current tab.
3. Storage and retention
- Information is stored on the user's device in
chrome.storage.local. - It is not sent to a developer-operated server, backend, or analytics service and is not synchronized across devices.
- Up to 10 items are stored; an 11th distinct item removes the oldest.
- Information remains until the user deletes it or removes the Extension. Clearing browser history or cache does not necessarily remove extension storage.
4. External requests and sharing
The developer does not receive, sell, or share saved viewing information and does not use it for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, lending, or external analytics. The browser may request thumbnails over HTTPS from i.ytimg.com, and opening an item navigates the current tab to YouTube. These are not transmissions to a developer-controlled server.
5. Permissions
storage: stores the saved list and UI preferences on the user's device.https://www.youtube.com/*: reads the current item's metadata and playback position when needed for saving and optionally displays quick controls.
The Extension does not execute remote code or collect the user's complete YouTube watch history in the background.
6. User controls
Users can delete individual items, select Clear all, hide or restore the optional quick controls, or remove the Extension to remove all extension local storage.
7. Limited Use compliance
Playback Pins' use of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. User data is handled only as necessary to provide the disclosed single purpose.
